Well the reason why I dont think it's my charger is because it still charges with the charger. I'll ask my brother or dad if they have a multimeter and if I can use it for a while.

OK. Without testing the charger, we have to remove the bottom case from the top cover as shown in the image below. Then check that the battery power safety switch on the mainboard is being fully depressed by a protrusion inside the base cover when assembled. If it is working OK, the next step would be to check the charger output or replace the battery. Since you don't want to do those things, then the next step would be to replace the whole top cover since the power button is integrated with the keyboard in this cover. Sorry, but without a multimeter to check outputs, there's little we can do  except replace parts until the problem is solved. Jack E/NJ

I cant seem to do it myself....

Unless your machine is still under warranty, I suggest you take it to a local shop like AlexPCs on GlasgowAve for a repair estimate. Phone (952) 432-3336. Jack E/NJ

    Hi JackE (and all)
I have exactly the same problem, but have tested the power adapter output ok. Also there is power to the board. I have tried turning it on with and without the battery connected, and done the battery reset button procedure.
I have taken the board out and visually inspected it with a magnifying glass (both sides) and there are no scorch marks or bad areas of the board at all.
My question is: Without having board schematics, does anyone know if there is a point on the board to bypass the keyboard power button to turn the thing on?
If not i guess I'll have to buy a whole new top cover with integrated keyboard and pray that it is that.
    thanks James

JH119   Even with board schematics, it'd be like looking for a needle in a haystack without proper diagnostic tools and then risk frying the mainboard if you bypass the wrong place. As suggested earlier, if it were mine, I'd take it to a local shop that seems to have a good laptop repair rep like TheComputerShop on Leyland Rd for an evaluation. Jack E/NJ

When you start the new thread we will want to know a bit more of the model number. It should be A315-xx-C5HQ. There several different 'xx' models in the Aspire A315 model line.
