It keeps turning off unexpectedly. Pushing buttons will eventually bring up the sign in screen, but it turns off again before I can sign in. It does this while plugged in. (I never use it unplugged.)
I sent it to Acer for repair. They said everything was fine, and updated the bios. They suggested making sure the air intake vent isn't blocked, or it may overheat and shut down.
It is always on a hard surface, so nothing is blocked. I don't play active games or anything. (Mostly check facebook.) It's not hot. It turns off before it would even have a chance to heat up. It continues to do this.
I wanted to return it for a refund, but the place where I got it only accept returns for 90 days. My problems started 4 months after I got it.
We tried the battery reset. We tightened all the screws. I set Sleep to Never. No joy.
Today, my husband noticed that it turns off as I reach for the keyboard. Further experimentation shows that it's only the left side of the keyboard. I don't have to touch it. Holding my hand over it will shut it down.
I have seen lots of posts about these shutting down, and they all talk about the battery. Nobody has said anything about the keyboard. Is there a sensor on the left side that would trigger a shut down? If so, how can we fix it?
I am very unhappy about this.
Wait a minute--I just realized that the problem started shortly after I started wearing a FitBit on my left wrist. It has a band with a magnetic closure. Could either of those somehow be causing interference? Do other people who experience this wear a FitBit?
