Yes, it's sometimes possible. Follow these directions but for your particular machine. Jack E/NJ

Hey i had the same problem .. I had upgraded my BIOS from 1.10 to 1.18 and my laptop took almost 2 min to boot up .. The simple solution was to reset my windows or simply install a fresh windows on the new BIOS .. I reset my laptop and now it boots up in 25 sec .. This is what worked for me ..

@Himture Thanks for the report. Does the BIOS menu Info tab still show v1.18? Jack E/NJ

Yes it says 1.18 .. There is one thing i would like to mention that i had updated to 1.18 through windows device manager (that is why the update was stable .. In device manager i updated the firmware which is the BIOS ..

Here is a summary of what worked for me ..
    1. Update to latest firmware (ie. BIOS) from device manager on windows ..
    2. See if it improves the performance .. if no
    3. Reset your windows (resetting windows can be done without loosing personal files so it is a useful way to speed up and remove unwanted settings and apps )

Note : Updating the BIOS had not improved my performance initialy but after resetting my laptop it didn't slow down my laptop .. What i mean to say is that sometimes the windows has problem interacting with the BIOS if you manually install the BIOS .. resetting windows fixes it ..
