Does anyone know what the area opposite the hard drive is for?? There is a metal enclosure that is empty on my computer. It does have a door or slot that is accessible from the outside, if removed.

To locate this area or metal box, face the monitor downward on a desk and remove the back cover. The area or box is located on the right-hand side.....empty on my pc.

The empty space opposite the hard drive is for installing DVD drive.

I have a DVD drive already installed. The space I am referring to is on the complete opposite side of the computer.

I think that area is just for airflow from the power supply area.

Billsey, I believe the power supply for this model is on the power cord....like a laptop.

This area is empty under the aluminium housings.

This box contains the expansion board. You can remove the two screws securing the expansion board cover to the main chassis assembly. Slide to disengage the expansion board cover from the main chassis assembly then lift it away.
