Installing SATA drive in new Acer Aspire A517-51G-54GK

Thousands seem to have my problem. The Sata boot drive it comes with is tiny, so opening up the PC, you see a drive bay but NO connectors and no drive install kit. So I called ACER. Useless customer service; I might as well have been speaking Swahili. They did not know what a drive bay was. Did not know what SATA meant. Useless. I need a SATA connector kit for the slave drive. Simple. How do I get it sent out?

    Hi pgerardj,

I'm sorry to hear this.  Can you please send me a PM with the S/N of your unit so I can look into this for you?

    Thanks,

    Acer-Manny

I have the same issue with A515-51. Customer service has no idea what I'm talking about. I asked them to read https://in.answers.acer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/53260/~/hard-drive-installation-instructions-for-acer-aspire-a515-51-and-a515-51g .  They couldn't help since there were no part numbers.

    us-store.acer.com also has no idea.

From the instructions it seems I need the drive cable and the "hard drive module" .  Anybody know where I can these ?

sean_darcy The A515-51 and A515-51G have expandable HDD sections on the PC that require a HDD Caddy kit. Customers can purchase this kit online from the Acer store, or by contact Acer Technical Support in your region. Part Number for the HDD Caddy Kit is 42.GP4N2.SV1.

Well chatted with the acer store:

"Thank you so much for holding. Unfortunately, after searching our database I see that we do not have on stock the replacement part that you asked for."

Any suggestions how to get this kit ??
