Laptop CPU (i7-7700HQ) is very slow!!

The general gaming performance of my laptop has been degrading slowly since I bought it back in September 2017. Recently, my laptop used to get so hot that one could possible fry an egg over it. So I submitted my laptop to an Acer service center who replaced the CPU thermal paste and also cleaned the fans and vents. Now, the temperature isn't that high, but the performance is still not back to what it originally used to be. Case in point - CPU mark gave ~7800 points for my CPU when it should be scoring around 8800 (as given on their website over here - https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i7-7700HQ+@+2.80GHz&id=2906 ). How do I go about fixing the performance of my CPU?

Bear in mind the score will vary each run from high 70's to low 80's

Clearly, not as fast as it should be. Also, a further comment on the temperatures. The idling temperature of my laptop even after the replacement of the thermal paste is about 50 degrees and it jumps straight to 97 or so degrees when turbo boost kicks in. I have no clue as to what can be the issue as I've got the fans cleaned as well.

75% is not shockingly bad and the benchmark output is also warning of 12% background activity that will pull down the results. Temperature is high and definitely in the range of thermal throttling. I'd start with looking at undervolting the CPU with ThrottleStop, raise the rear of the notebook to help with airflow. I would also look at what is running in the background as 12% seems a little high to me.

Hi! I have an answer for you. some times changing the thermal paste and cleaning the fans are not enough. because by time the heat-pipe itself deteriorates. and it needed to change. you can change the heat-pipe and get a new set of heat pipe and fans and then feel the difference.

But I wouldn't trust this purely since my windows has lots of optimizations to me to suit my needs... for example my ramp up of speeds on processors and the number of cores that are parked are all optimized for battery life, be it even when connected to power supply.
Check to see if the same applies to your case too.

Also see the effect of background processes. The one below is 4% background activity as compared to 13% from above.

Sep 17 - Jul 18 -- this is barely an year, and laptop pipes last over many years. That should be the least of the issues here.

Check the services... disable all you might not need - major would be windows search and superfetch.
