Aspire 5735z GPU Overheating Problem

So I had to replace the motherboard because it kept shutting down randomly. The device will only stay on if I apply thermal paste to the CPU and GPU. But will give a shocking like static sound near the fan. The fan works fine and has been cleaned out. The device originally had thermal paste only on the GPU and a thermal pad on the GPU. So I tried it that way too. It gets rid of the shocking sound if I don't apply thermal paste on the GPU only to the CPU but now it will shut down after windows loads. I know I applied the thermal paste correctly, to a pea size and only on the sliver parts of the GPU and CPU. I am at a loss and can't think of what else could be causing the problem?

What mainboard part number? Do you know if it has a safety interlock switch that is activated (cuts power) on disassembling or misalignment of the case covers? Jack E/NJ

MB.ATR01.002 MB.ATR01.002 is the motherboard part number. Not sure about the safety switch.

OK. Not sure about the switch with that part number either. By inspection, it usually would be a simple, rather small normally-off switch that the case would push against to turn it on when properly assembled. The symptoms of an improperly aligned case are usually unexpected random shutdowns when using the keyboard, touchpad or otherwise physically disturbing the case. If left running undisturbed or moved, the machine usually won't shut down. So I guess the next question is --- does the machine still shut down if you don't touch it after Windows loads? Jack E/NJ

Sometimes I can get to go into YouTube. It mainly shuts down when playing like videos. I can leave it just to load up to the windows screen and it will last about 5 minutes and shut down.

What happens when booted to the command prompt only safe mode? Jack E/NJ

Same thing happens in safe mode. I am about 95% it is the thermal pad I using. What should the thickness of the thermal pad be on an Acer Aspire 5735z? 15x15x1mm is what I using right now.

Sorry. If it still shuts down with minimal services running in safe mode command prompt, something besides CPU overheating is probably causing this issue. Maybe another device like a failing battery, memory module, drive or even a short to ground that is drawing too much current and triggering the circuit breaker. Try to get back into safe mode long enough to run msconfig again to boot with a bare minimum of services. We need to try to track down what may be triggering this. Jack E/NJ

I checked the memory, and replaced the hard drive. CPU works fine. They all display in the BIOS. l have a feeling its the GPU which is why videos don't play well. There is no copper on the heat sink next to GPU but there is on the CPU. But that is normal just the way it was made when I look at others of the same model it the same. It seems to last longer the more paste I put on the GPU but it would make the static noise more. I going to try a different paste K5 pro, as I heard that is used to replace thermal pads up to 3mm of thickness.

Ok after installing the K5 pro paste device doesn't shut down anymore. The sound seems related to the speaker. If I turn the volume up I hear it but If I turn it down to mute I don't hear it.
