I got an Acer Aspire ES1-571 as a gift a little over a year ago, and a few months ago the battery suddenly locked at 81% from windows point of view and now it loses power and shuts down instantly the second it's unplugged. This is made worse by the fact that the plug is loose so it loses power for the briefest of moments if I move it too much which is enough to make is shut down.

I would say the battery is dead. If you have a fluke meter you could test it and see what the voltages show. Other than that I would say take it somewhere and have them test it for you and you may have to purchase a new one.
