I can only get sound when mirroring with an HDMI cable on acer c720 chromebook. If I unplug the HDMI cable I cannot get any sound from anything on my chromebook.

Hi, Simple fix....just try shutting down both Chromebook & external display unit. After reboot and check. That should do the trick.

I shut down everything and disconnected the cable. Still no sound on the chromebook. Thanks.

I understand I would loose everything (i.e., back to factory set) so I'd have to back up all my files and photos? I'm not sure of how to save everything. I'm going to see if there is another possible fix before I take on that project. Thanks.

Hi, Please let me know the type of external unit, through which you are trying to mirror the Chromebook screen.

I'm using an Acer C720 Chromebook, I am not sure of how to do the back up before the power wash. I will see if I can find that info. Yes, I think that will be the option if I don't find some other reason for no longer having sound. Strange that is works when displaying it through the cord to my TV. Maybe not so stange...Idk. Thank you for responding.
