There will be an onscreen icon to notify that you're doing it right. Simply press the Windows key and bring up the start menu. Now, type Bightness and you'll get the option to adjust brightness withing the operating system. If you want the shortcut to be working, possibly the fn key might be disabled. Does it work for other functions such as increasing sound and decreasing it? If so, then you need to look to enable it in BIOS. Cheers!

    Hi, @ nalam321

Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options, then click on "Change plan settings" next to your active power plan. Scroll down to Display, then under Disable adaptive brightness, switch it off for both the battery and plugged in modes. After this, try decreasing the brightness and it should work.

@RanY2J, Monitor shows that my brightness is in lowest level/highest level. But, I don't see any effect. I have also decreased by typing brightness after pressing the windows key. I want to see effect. I can decrease by several ways but don't see any effect. Do I need To install any driver or anything else please?

    Hi,

Please try to uninstall display adapters from device manager.

    > press and hold windows + X > click on device manager > double tap on display adapters > right click on the drivers and click uninstall ( do not check the box to delete the driver software ). Post this restart the device to take effect.

Now give it a try with fn + brightness up or down to see the difference.
