Hello Everyone

We have just brought a brand new aspire 3, from the start, the start up process and install took 3 hours to complete, when it has completed, it couldnt do the updates stating the internet wasnt connect and failed. the pc was very slow and very sluggish.

cheaking the task manager revealed the cpu at 80-90% and the disk drive at 100%, nothing has been added or changed and the pc is unusable! after spending 250 pounds on this laptop, its shocking that this is happening, is it a common fault?

how on earth do i fix this please?

The issue is probably your Windows updating itself. When you get a new laptop, the first few hours or even days are spent with Windows downloading and installing updates. If you stop this in the middle, the machine will still perform the update or hog the usage for sure.

I suggest waiting till your Windows is up to date before we can conclude anything. If your Windows is up to date, then we've a problem! Let me know m8.

i couldnt complete the updates as the laptop said there was an issue with the connection, i have lost patience with the machine and started a complete factory reset in the hope that reinstalling it again will fix the problem, however its been sat at 1% for the last 5 mins, i beginning to wonder if there is a HDD fault

    Hi,
The factory reset will take atleast an hour to complete. If its still slow contact the acer 1866 695 2237. they will help you in service.

Hi, Hight0wer73 The factory reset process should run for 2 to 3hrs of time. Do not interrupt the process in between, as it may cause HDD failure. Once reset is done, unit will again try to get updates installed.

Well, factory reset will take its time, but let me tell you this. You're going to eventually update your Windows. I would say when the laptop is up again, do the updates and sleep. After 1709 update, the machine will run smoothly, if not, then you can do another reset and then prevent it from updating at all. You could do one last thing. Open services.msc and stop Windows Update process but this is purely for testing pruposes and not a complete fix dude.
