My ACER ES 15 is running slow all the time, freezing multiple times in a day. Help!

I don't understand how a brand new laptop with 4GB of memory and 500GB hard drive can be so slow.  Is the CPU too small for windows 10?  I've never had this much memory and I've never had such a crappy laptop.  Does ACER do anything about these issues?  I appreciate having a community but how do I get ACER to respond directly?

Larry, it's not always about the age of the laptop. I think the freezing issue might need to be specifically told. For example, you might be referring to your browser freezing, a game might be lagging, the whole PC feels sluggish.

If the latter, then i suggest you to first perform a clean boot. It is easy to perform a clean boot with instructions on the internet but you can also open your Task Manager.

A PC feels sluggish only because CPU is getting hit and/or there's a Disk usage (Hard disk such as copying huge files). Also, there are chances where a program is eating up all your CPU/RAM usage causing the machine to lag like that. I recommend opening up Task Manager and find out what is using the most of your machine's hardware. If there's a specific software, simple uninstallation would fix the issue.

    Cheers!

    Hi,

Like RanY2J explained its never the age of laptop. I had a laptop for 6 years with no trouble. I suggest you to try the below troubleshooting steps.

    1. uninstall any unnecessary apps from programs and features in control panel.
    2. try to delete temp files by holding windows + R > type %temp% > you can delete these unnecessary files. If you get a message saying that it cant delete then skip those things.
    3. try holding windows + R > type prefetch > you can delete these unnecessary files.
    4. make sure to keep not more than one anti-virus
    5. do a clean boot ( Windows + R > type msconfig > click on services tab > check the box on the bottom left pane > now click on disable all and then click on OK. Now the device asks to restart so restart the unit.
    6. stop startup services. ( Launch task manager hold Windows + shift + esc > click on startup tab > disable unnecessary startup apps.

Doing these steps will improve the unit performance. If you happen to experience the same issue then try increasing Virtual memory from the computer.
