So I clicked "Update and Shut down" when I was done using my laptop Aspire 5 A515-51-563W. The next time I started it up, I can log into my computer but it will only show a black screen after logging in. How do I fix my computer?

    Hi,
You could try a battery reset, switch off the laptop, disconnect the AC adapter, follow the instructions in the video, leave the laptop to rest for a while before starting again.

    • Perform power drain. just try to unplug the adapter from laptop or if it is a desktop, unplug the power cable from the CPU.
    • Hold down the power button for 30 seconds and then reconnect the cables and try to turn on the computer.
    • See if the issue is resolved, if not please follow the below steps.

    • Once you are at the Windows 10 sign-in screen, you should hold down the Shift key on your keyboard and not let it go. While holding down the Shift key, click on the Power button and then click on Restart.
    • When Windows 10 restarts, you will be at the Choose an Option screen select Troubleshoot.
    • In the list, you will find an option called Advance options, please select that.
    • In that you will find an option called start up settings. kindly select Startup settings.
    • You will find an option to click on Restart.
    • Hit F5 to select safe mode with networking.
    • If your computer boots fine in that mode, then perform Clean boot. please find the steps to perform Clean boot on the computer.

To perform a clean boot in Windows 8 or Windows 10:

    1. Press the "Windows + R" key to open a Run box.

    2. Type msconfig and click OK.

    3. On the General tab, click Selective startup.

    4. Clear the Load startup items check box.

    5. Click the Services tab.

    6. Select the Hide all Microsoft services check box (at the bottom).

    7. Click Disable all.

    8. Click the Startup tab.

    9. Click Open Task Manager.

    10. On the Startup tab, right-click each enabled startup item and select Disable.

    11. Click OK.

    12. Click Restart.

May be a long setup from an update. If you hit ctrl-alt-del do you get a menu with "Task Manager" ?
