My laptop is 8 months old so I know it's out of warranty. So I've been really satisfied with my laptop until today. As you can see by the photo, the hinge on the left side has gotten screwed up. Don't know how this happened since I've never dropped or even taken my laptop out of my home.

The worst part is I can no longer close my laptop. Anyone have any ideas about what went wrong and how I can fix it? I don't have a lot of money to spend on a repair.

The warranty should be 12mos for a new purchase. Jack E/NJ

Click the ACER service link at the bottom of this page. Choose US. And arrange for warranty service pronto. Have your machine's serial number id (SNID) ready. Jack E/NJ

I have the same model in white and exactly same thing happened , it seems because the screen is so thin i kept closing the lid from one corner and sometimes pick it up from the same corner, cut a long story short my 12 month warranty was out so i unclipped plastic surround on screen and where the hinge is screwed to lid the threads on lid had snapped of so i got strong glue and being careful put them back in place , let them dry overnight and voila problem fixed

So Sorin really did fixed "a laptop hinge cheap, easy and in a proper way".
The man must be admired for his laid-back demeanor & lack of concern for his working conditions.
A glue gun should work better than a soldering iron.
