Would like to add a 2nd hard drive (Samsung 860 EVO 250GB 2.5 Inch SATA III. My Laptop model a515-51-563W has 8GB RAM; 1TB HDD (mechanical). What else do I need to install this SSD? Are there any step-by-step instructions anywhere?

Hi,
You can not install another 2.5" SSD in your model but there's a M.2 slot available for a M.2 SATA SSD, you can install a drive like the one in the link, transfer your OS to it and use the 1TB HDD for storage.
Remove the HDD and memory module after opening the hatches at the back, you need to remove all the screws at the back, use a plastic prying tool to release the tabs and separate the bottom cover, insert the SSD at an angle, pushdown slowly and secure it with a screw, use Minitool partition wizard or any software to migrate the OS to the new drive, remove the HDD and try booting with the M.2 SSD to check whether you have done the migration properly and it works.

Hi,
You have one 2.5" HDD bay( you have 1TB HDD in this bay), another slot available is a M.2 SSD slot inside the laptop, so you can install a M.2 SSD and use it as a boot drive and use the 1TB HDD for additional storage.
If you are thinking about another 2.5" bay inside, no it's not available.

Brummyfan2, thanks for your prompt reply! Perhaps I didn't express myself clearly; I only have the HDD(1TB) that came with my laptop, -not addding "another SSD"- what I would like to add is a SSD (Samsung) to use as booting drive in the bay available for it inside the computer. So the final set up is as you say, SSD as he main HD and the 1TB HDD as storage. Thanks again.

Thank you. I've been searching all day and it appears that the Samsung SSD model MZ-N5E250BW would be one that is compatible or the Crucial CT250MX500SSD4.
