Can see the HDD (Old spare 5 Tb from NAS) in Disk manager, but right click show format menu; however, it is greyed out so will not format?
Any help appreciated.

Any chance there has been no partition created yet? In Disk Manager is it showing unallocated?

    Hi Billsey, thanks for response

Being an NAS HDD in its past there is a partition/s set by the NAS, I think this may be the issue, but I thought the Expansion bay could or would re-format to NTFS.

Manager allow me to delete a partition but not format.

    Hi Billsey,

Worked it out, had to delete all partitions then create a simple drive, now have an F:/ with 5 TB.

    Thanks for the hint.

Great! A lot of the NAS devices look to the disks like Linux machines, so it's no surprise that the disk wasn't setup for Windows partitions.
