Help - Aspire ME600 desktop - disc drive will not open

Pushing the eject button on the front of the disc tray has no response.  The computer *does* recognize the drive (it shows up under "This PC" along with my hard drive).  I see no pinhole for using a paper clip to manually eject - the front of the tray is just a smooth surface.  I have tried to gently pry the front of the tray downward or outward but even with some force it resists and feels liable to break.  Any advice?  Is there a pinhole I'm just not seeing, if so, where exactly?  Is there a way to "tell" the tray to eject using some software or utility?   Thank you

IIRC you can pivot the front cover to the drive down to access the real front face, and it has the pinhole. The eject button could be bad or the drive could have it's power disconnected to give those symptoms.

Hi! As the CD/DVD drive shows under "This PC", I recommend you to right click the CD/DVD drive icon and select "Eject" button. If that doesn't work, I recommended you to shutdown your computer. After shutting down, just press & hold the eject button in CD/DVD drive. Holding the eject button, press power button to power on your computer. This might work :)
