Despite being bricked, at least the tablet should turn on, so I assume that you should first think about connecting the charger and see if there's a charging display and if it does, let it charge and try.

I have the same problem my Acer tablet as it is all charged up but will not turn on and have tried many times so I suspect there is a problem with  the switch and need to know where I can get a new switch?

Can anyone tell me what to look for like is it the switch or do I need a whole new mother board and if what? where can I get one?
    Please anyone?

The first thing to do is find out if the switch is working mechanically. When you press the switch can you feel/hear a click? If so then likely the switch mechanism is working. IIRC the switch is soldered to the motherboard, but there have been a few tablets where the switch is on a daughter card. We'd have to know exactly which model yours is to tell. One other possibility is that the battery has given up the ghost. When this battery type drops too far under spec it shuts down and can't be revived. That design is to reduce battery exploding or catching on fire events.

Hi I thought that I gave the model number on here but I do not see that text now for unknown reason.
Well, now when I plug the charger in the red light comes on then shortly after the blue charge light comes on indicating that it is fully charged.
Now this is the first I have ever heard of a company designing a battery that will not charge again if it falls below spec, that's ludicrous as everyone
at one time or other has been caught with dead batteries on their devices at one time or other and have been able to just charge them up again.
We have only had this unit for only 6 months so it should not act like this already.

Again for your information, it is a Model N15P2 Acer Switch One 10

Question if the switch is soldered to the motherboard does that mean we need a whole new motherboard??  Or can a good teck get a switch and install it?

Than you for al your input as I really appreciate it.

OK, a N15P2 is an Aspire S1002 model. The switch is soldered to the motherboard and it looks like it's surface mounted. A good tech can replace it, but they need to have surface mount capabilities. Many are setup for parts swaps instead of this level of repair. I gather that the switch is not giving you a nice click when you press it?

All lithium-ion batteries are designed to shut down well before complete discharge, specifically to make sure they have enough of a charge still in them to allow charging without too heavy of a current load. If they didn't do that there would be a lot more fires! The closer the battery gets to fully discharged the more current needed to 'jump start' the charging process. The more current draw, the hotter the battery gets. If you remember when these batteries were the latest new thing (Apple and Samsung phones) there were lots of fires and explosions because the manufacturers were letting them discharge too low. It took a bit before they figured out where the threshold needed to be to stay completely safe.

    Hi Billsey
I must admit that I really was not paying attention about checking for an audible click when I push the switch on a few times and Yes I do feel the click more then I hear the click so I guess then the other option is a dead battery that cannot be revived as I know my wife always allowed the battery to go completely dead before she would plug it in again due to being so used to doing that with her iPad.
So where would you suggest I look for a new battery or is this just a discard tablet model?
    Regards

A quick Google of "S1002 battery" gives several hits for both a replacement battery and instructions. Looks like it's well worth the repair if you are not ready for an upgrade. $25 or so for the battery itself, I'd guess more like $100 if you have to take it to a repair technician.
