Hi,

I Recently Bought a Acer Spin 5

Model Name: Spin 5 (SP513-52N-58QD)

https://www.acer.com/ac/en/MY/content/model/NX.GR7SM.003

there was a problem in my lap,  my laptop's core temperature would go high as 95  degrees for a sec and drop down( Screenshot in Picture 1) below

i contacted the seller and they updated the bios, now it doesn't go to 90 degrees , now the temperatures vary around 43 degrees ( Screenshot in Picture 2 (can see the max and min values in pic), in normal usage,  in load it goes to 60 - 70 degrees now.

Question 1 i want to know for sure if it is normal?

Question 2 if the core temperatures went around 95 degrees even for a sec, will it damage my cpu's, i want to make sure nothings damaged

Question 3 how do i charge my laptop via USB C

thankyou

any help will be appreciated

John,

    (1) Anything below 90°C can be considered normal.
    (2) Spiking to 95°C shouldn't damage anything. Machine will automatically shut off if above.
    (3) You should be able to charge other devices via USB port

thanks JackE  for the help 😊

But i still dont think its normal  ,90 degrees is a bit  high, dont u think🤔,. It's a brand new one.
With so little load if it does goes over 90,
Think how much high it will go on a high load..

    Can u tell me:
Q1. What are the idle and load temperatures of spin 5?

Q2. And also Can  anyone upload some screenshots of  their spin 5 load and idle core temperatures in hw monitor and core temp software..
    It would really be helpful.

(I have also checked other laptops, an aspire R14 (core i5 , 256 SSD 8GB ram) with load and idle, the temperatures dont go over 50 degrees.)

    Thankyou,
    Any help would be Appreciated..

CPU should not reach 90°C with no or low load. 70°C or less is comfortable under low load. Jack E/NJ

Well after a few hours of not doing much other than eMail and browsing my CPU temp is at 127F/53C which is about normal.

Mine goes at 65 degrees just after few hours of browsing,
But the starting temp goes over 80s and 85s.

My laptop  starting temperature goes to 95-85 when  cpu is under load.  The second i give a load to my laptop , the temperatures spikes to 95 degrees and then it drops down.. 60 degrees.

*My CPU temp spikes all of a sudden to 95 degrees in a sec .and drops down.
Is this normal for my laptop?

    What should i do?

If it only spikes for a few seconds, then drops, under load this means the fan is properly kicking in when it should. Jack E/NJ
