Acer Aspire F5 573G 7908 - CPU Fan + keyboard issue

Hi guys,

So I recently sent my laptop away to Acer for repair under warranty.

The issue was that the CPU fan runs constantly on 100% even when idle, and a cluster of keys, I, J, K, L, M, and Spacebar stop working when this is happening.

I received my laptop back from Acer today with a service report saying they have replaced the fan and part of the keyboard assembly and that everything is now working fine, but the issue is still there, exactly as before.

One thing I have now noticed is that the 2 issues are directly linked.

Left alone the laptop fan starts whirring at 100% and the cluster of keys dies. However, if I continuously tap any other key or keys on the keyboard the fan immediately starts to slow down and the cluster of affected keys starts to work again.

After another 20 seconds or so, the fan starts to speed up again and sure enough, the same cluster of keys is unresponsive.

Is there anything that might be causing this that I can fix myself? Since warranty repair was essentially a voluntary 2 month separation from my laptop with no benefit to me whatsoever.

Prior to all of this I have tried reinstalling keyboard drivers, most of the main laptop drivers (chipset, BIOS etc)

Anyone who can shed any light on this situation would be greatly appreciated.

James
