My laptop isn't charging at all. When it's plugged in, no lights are coming on & its just staying dead. I think that the battery is completely buggered, but just need someone to say that I'm correct. This is my 2nd aspire, so I don't think I'm going to bother again.....Tia 😊

Check the charger plug output with a multimeter. Should be 15v or more. Jack E/NJ

Please let us know the full model no of your laptop.
Are you able to use the laptop with the AC adapter plugged-in?
Also, check the current version of BIOS installed on your device.

Let's perform a power reset. Press hold the power button for 10 seconds, disconnect the charger. Check for a battery reset pin hole with a battery symbol at the bottom of the device. Insert a paperclip into the hole and press for four seconds to reset the computer. it simulates removing and reinstalling the battery. Connect the charger and power On the device to check the issue.

If the laptop is working fine on AC adapter, open device manager. Expand the entry named Batteries by clicking on the side arrow associated with it. As next, right click on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and click on the Uninstall option. click on the tab named Action and then to click on the option Scan for hardware changes. Restart the device and check the issue.

OK. Let's try to do a battery re-set like Sharangi suggested above. On the bottom, there's a pinhole as in the image below. Get a paper clip and insert it for 4-5 seconds. Then try it out again. Jack E/NJ

I'm guessing the charger is the problem. Does it have a dual voltage switch? Make sure it's set to whatever your mains are in Cinderford. I assume 230v. Jack E/NJ

Does the charger's plug have a hole in the middle? If yes, check inside the laptop jack to make sure the center pin is straight and not bent off to the side. Jack E/NJ
