GeeZee I hope you are using wireless mouse & keyboard. If so, I recommend you to unplug the USB dongle from computer and turn off the unit. Later plug the USB dongle to different USB port and reboot computer. Hope this works.

Guys .. i can make a video if needed.
but the usb mouse/keyboard is not recognized at all
i cannot send any input to the system.
I even tried booting with linux installed on disk ( new disk ) and that fails to boot too .. seems really wierd behaviour for a PC.
yes its running Windows 8 as installed originally.

so in a nutshell , system boots and i get the windows screen but cannot send any input to log into the system.

any ideas besides a new motherboard ?

That's a normal response after pulling the CMOS cell. I assume pressing DELkey doesn't go to the BIOS menu? Jack E/NJ

Yeah. None of the USB ports seem connected. Below is an image of the mainboard. They're side by side with USB3 connected with a ribbon cable. I'm gonna guess something has physically disrupted the connections in this area. If it were mine, and not under warranty, I'd probably try to open it up and take a look. Jack E/NJ

The USB ports are soldered on .. for them to disconnect somehow seems very strange.
i have opened and looked they seem pretty well soldered on . its something else just dont know what else i can try. motherboard is around 200$ USD  :(

Can you inspect the backside of the USB2 ports and USB3 connector with a loupe? Maybe try to wiggle them a bit while looking for solder or PC trace breaks/cracks. If you see anything suspicious, a solder reflow may be worth a try. Jack E/NJ
