Hello,

Im have a few problems with My ACER ET430K when running  4k HDR 10bit on my MSI GF 980ti Gaming 6GB

Windows recognises HDR content and turns on HDR for applications such as Cyberlink PowerDVD 17 and HDR capable games, Battlefield 1 and StarWars Battlefront 2.
The problem I am having is as soon as I launch any of these applications my monitor gets a no signal and turns off. I have to ctrl+alt+del to get task manager up and kill process(monitor turns back on)
My monitor is the Acer ET430K (newer model) that does support 3840x2160 (native) @ 60hz Full RGB 10Bit via DisplayPort. I have a Lindi certified CHROMO cable that supports the above.

I have SLI enabled and not using dx12 on the games as DX12 & SLI dont exsist together.

When I launch powerdvd 17 viewing a Blueray It changes to HDR in the application automatically and the screen goes blank and turns the monitor off. Same as the game launch.

My specs are as follows:

AMD Ryzen 7 1800x (stock) 3.6
Asus Crosshair VI Extreme x370
MSI Geforce 980Ti Gaming 6G x2 SLI HB Bridge (stock)
Acer ET430K 3840x2160 (native)
Driver 391.24 WHQL (Clean install)
Any help would be great.

Kind Regards

Make sure you are using a DisplayPort 1.4 version or above to display HDR content. Also you state that you have set your monitor to Full RGB 10Bit via DisplayPort. But you can only have a 4K HDR image at 8bit RGB, or we can have a 4K HDR image at 10bit YUV420.

Also, if you have a speaker system connected to your monitor, make sure they also have HDCP 2.2. HDCP 2.2 is the next generation of copy protection for the 4K era, designed to prevent illegal copying of 4K Ultra HD content.

Every link in your video chain must support HDCP 2.2 — your TV, video source, and any component the video signal passes through. If one does not, you won't see a 4K picture.

HDMI 2.0 is also required for TVs and components to be able to pass 4K video. But you can't assume that every device that has HDMI 2.0 will also support HDCP 2.2. Take a look at the follwing picture of a A/V Receiver.

So please go through the versions of your devices and cables to make sure they are compatible with the latest 4K tech. Hope this helps you out.

Well I normally start with thanks for your reply, but I cant even do that as its absolutely nothing to do with my problem.
As a community responder please ensure "You have read and understood the question".

The Monitor is advertised as:ET430k (display port 1.2 /1.1 input (with repeater built into Monitor) advertised 4k HDR 10bit Full RGB 3840x2160 10 4.4.4

I have a lindi (certified /tested)CHROMA 4k 3840x2160 rgb full 10bit cable that is 1.2. My monitor is 1.2, my gfx is 1.2 all devices are 1.2 DP.

The monitor also has HDMI 2.0 but that is limited by bandwidth to 8bit 4k output @60hz.

Anyone else who can understand and offer relevant advice?

    Hello mate,

Sorry if my post sounded like it was completely unrelated. Maybe I crammed too much into my answer.

However, I would still recommend that you check out the following link regarding your issue. It's forum that has some info about 4K setting.

The behavior you describe is exactly what happens when exceeding limits of the cable. I had to play with nvidia control panel and enforce refresh-rate to 30Hz until I got certified cables. Also check your per-application display settings if any. Secondary display is handy when you need to experiment with different settings. I bought both HDMI and DP from cabledirect and they both work with 4K@60, my cables are 10m and I'm satisfied without HDR. I did try it out with DP but couldn't tune the display as good as with 8bit. I guess +22Gbps just starts to be too much, so first try by sacrificing the rate with RGB or YUV 444 in 10bit to check if it is a bandwidth issue. Then go with less chroma samples YUV, like suggested. If it is about the limit of your cable, this is the way to find it. Also would like to hear from people who have successfully tuned full HDR with et430k, is it really worth of moving my PC closer to the display :)
