Hello guys. I have this friend who has an Aspire A315-31-C6D4 and recently after he updated his Win 10 , he gets the No bootable device error . Ive checked the BIOS but unfortunately there are no bootable devices too such as USB drives. Ive removed the HDD and the laptop wont start. Ive plugged it back , it starts properly but still the same error occurs . Ive restored the values on BIOS , tried to reinstall the Windows using a bootable USB but in the boot menu nothing showed up.

I have to say that before the update the laptop worked pretty fine.
Here's a photo from the boot menu in BIOS

I would really appreciate your help cause I really wanna help him out.

Re-seat the HDD a few more times to make sure the contact are clean. Then F2 into the BIOS menu again Information tab and check if the BIOS chip  properly detects & describes the HDD. Jack E/NJ  PS: You may be able to restore the system from the HDD itself if the BIOS detects it OK. Also, the UEFI bootstrapper won't recognize your bootable USB stick unless it's GPT-partitioned and FAT32-formatted. Jack E/NJ

Thanks for the fast reply . I just did that , same thing all over again. The stick tho was made with Rufus as you said GPT-partitioned and FAT32 formatted. Still its unrecognizable.
I know for sure that the cause of this issue is the last update Win 10 made .....

Are you saying that the BIOS Information tab is empty as well? Jack E/NJ

No , when I enter the BIOS menu , there are plenty of info's there. The thing is in the Boot section there is nothing out there. Ive plugged in the stick , got into the boot menu , and same thing , it doesnt recognize it.

Can you try plugging the USB flash drive to a another USB port? Go through all USB ports until it works.
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

If still no joy with other USB ports, re-enter the BIOS menu and press F9 for defaults, F10 to save and exit. Jack E/NJ

Did that just now , still nothing. I'm still wondering why it won't recognize any devices.

It could be that the USB ports are not set for booting, that is why it won't recognise the boot drive. I recently had a similar problem with an Acer Aspire A114 and the only place I managed to boot the windows installation media from was the card reader. I don't see any other reason why it wouldn't recognise the USB drive as a boot drive.

Last thing you can try is to set a superviser password in BIOS and after that you should be able to disable secure boot, which might make the USB drive appear in the boot menu. If nothing happens then your last chance would be the card reader.

I don't have any better ideas. JackE might be able to help you further.
