How to change the screen brightness in Linux for Predator 17 G5-793?

I installed Fedora 26 on my Predoator 17 G5-793, together with Windows 10 as dual boot, no problem but one. Under Linux, the Brightness control keys (Fn+Right/Left) does not work. It works fine on Windows 10.

When pressed, Linux shows the brightness bar(bulb), it even increases and decreases, but the brightness does not change.

Volume keys (Fn+Up/Down arrow) work perfectly in all OSs.

Any solution?

    Hi,

Go to menu -> power managment.
Use terminal to download xbacklight, e.g.

    CODE: SELECT ALL

    sudo apt-get install xbacklight
Type xbacklight and see available commands. this will allow you to change the brightness.

can the brightness be changed from system menu slider rather than just the keyboard? (I'm assuming you're using the gnome desktop, same brightness slider is elsewhere if using a different environment).    With fed., the command is:  sudo dnf install xbacklight       (or you'll find it the gui package manager)
