Hi everyone: I'm in the market for a 17" laptop and have been reading various reviews online (mostly positive, like this one) to see if it might be worth the hefty price tag. Although I play games now and then (probably around once a week) I also need it for business (use a lot of excel and maintain multiple windows open at a time). In addition, I do some cryptocurrency staking on my laptop (those of you who own cryptocurrencies know what this is) so that takes a lot of memory . So to keep things short: is the Acer Predator 17 laptop a good pick for all these memory intensive tasks? If not, please let me know what other Acer alternatives are there (want to stick with Acer brand for now).

depends on you ..if your main focus is on gaming then this thing is a beast...but if you want it for like business then there are other light weight laptops aswell since predator 17 is around 4.5kg...so its totally upto you

If the size and weight don't present any issue the Predator 17 is an excellent notebook.   I use mine in engineering/business environments, frequently traveling internationally to projects in the field.  Opt for the 32Gb model as this then allows for another 32Gb of RAM which can be user installed.  The factory installed RAM is on the upper side of the motherboard requiring complete disassembly to upgrade.

Performance is extremely solid, I undervolted the CPU on my G9 793 although the thermals were good to gain a little more battery life and running cooler is always better.  The Predator 17 runs cool and quite, fans are not overly intrusive. likely I will add a 2nd SSD to the notebook in time.  The construction is very robust with the notebook being more than capable of day to day rigours.

I got the Acer Predator backpack as apart of the deal, which I recommend as the vast majority of bags will be too small and with the power pack a fair weight to carry about.
