My old laptop worked perfectly with this monitor when it was connected by HDMI cable. However I have a new laptop that has a HDMI 2 connection and it does not recognise it anymore. Is this possibly due to it being HDMI 2 - I am not sure but I think my old laptop was HDMI 1. I am using the same cable so should I upgrade it to HDMI 2 but then the question is will the ACER monitor be able to use it? Any pointers would be appreciated

Hi, Yes the reason for your issue is the HDMI version. The HDMI 2.0 is the increase of the size of the "pipe" transmitting data from the source (like a future native 4K Blu-ray player or PC) to display. As your laptop has HDMI 1, it seems to be not compatible with this monitor. As a work around, you can check with different HDMI cables and that may work.
