I think this will work for many Acer machines that have similar BIOS options, but obvs can't say for sure.

Plug in your bootable USB Linux drive
In BIOS in the Boot tab, make sure you have UEFI (not Legacy) and Secure Boot is enabled.
Then in the Security tab under Secure Boot Mode you'll want to hit "Select an UEFI file as trusted for executing"
You should be able to navigate to your USB drive
For me (Ubuntu Desktop 17.10 bootable drive) I then go to EFI > Boot, and then select grubx64.efi
Give it a name, like Grub
    Now go to Boot
     - if you don't see Grub Save and Exit and come back to BIOS > Boot
     - if it is there move it to the top
    Save and Exit (F10)

    Now you can install Linux

Once I was done installing Linux I had to go back to BIOS and then Security tab
Restore Secure Boot To Factory Default
    F10, save and exit
Back to BIOS, then back to Security Tab
Select an UEFI as trusted for executing
Then you'll want to go into EMMC
    Then (for me) ubuntu
    Then grub*
Give it a name (like Grub)
Go back to boot, if you see it, move it to the top, if not F10 save and exit and come back, then move it to the top.

    DONE! (For me)

WHERE ON EARTH WERE ANY DOCS ON THE BIOS FOR MY MACHINE. Acer Chat couldn't supply them, and I carefully tiptoed around speech like "why do you want to do this", and "well you're trying to upgrade your computer"

No, I'm trying to use a feature of your software on your hardware, tell me how to use it.

Figured it out on my own, after 6+hours of wrestling with this nonsense. I am NOT happy about it, but I have my badass webdev and gaming machine now. URGH!

    Hi
I have a Gaming laptop from Acer
    Predator 17 x
    Core i7 7820hk
    RAM
    gtx 1080 8gb
Problem When playing the charger cable is connected to the electricity, the laptop takes the battery and charger power
When playing one hour and break it
I find the charging on the computer 92 for example
It is supposed to take the energy out of the charger and keep the battery

Thank you for posting this, but I'm having issues on the last step I quoted above. I go into "Select an UEFI as trusted for executing" submenu but all it lists is HDD1 (which contains the RAID0 setup with Windows on it) and HDD2 (which doesn't display anything, but should contain my linux distro), and nothing about EMMC. Maybe it depends on the details of how you installed the Linux distro? Where did you specify your bootloader should be installed?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
