Hello, I flashed my Acer Aspire e5-572g with custom BIOS and it got stucked. Now it don't show the Acer logo, I can't enter in the BIOS settings and after 15-20 sec maybe it show big label "No bootable device". I think it can be re-flashed with Flash drive but I need to download the file for this which I can't find. Where I can find FD file for e5-572G? Please help me.

What do you mean by "custom"? What BIOS firmware did you try to use? Jack E/NJ

The filename in the root directory of the minidos USB crisis stick must be Z5WAWX64.fd, size about 9.63MB. Google "Z5WAWX64.fd" to find it thru your mod site. You must remove the battery and charger plug. Insert the stick. Then plug the charger in. Then press and hold the FN+ESC key while pressing the power button. If nothing seems to happen after about 5 minutes, then repeat the operation.  BTW, I don't know why or how your custom failed but you might want to try it again a few times cuz these bootstrappers can be finicky and unpredictable. I can't find original BIOS, I don't want modded. Why acer doesn't give this free in their site?

The zip file on your mod site is not modded. Please re-read the post. Or if you don't want that particular .fd file, you may find it embedded in one of the firmware updates for your machine on this Acer site. https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/6737?b=1  Jack E/NJ

I format it in fat32 and add the .fd file, remove the ac adapter from the laptop and the battery, pressed fn button + esc, plugged  ac adapter and then power button. After this black screen, the led indicator on the usb doesn't turn on. 15-20 sec late the usb led started to lights up twice and "No bootable device"

Pull the charger plug again. No battery. Press & hold the power button for about a minute to discharge the BIOS circuit. Then wait several minutes. Then try to repeat flash procedure. No other files except Z5WAWX64.fd must be in the stick root. May want to make sure filename is exactly as shown for possible case-sensitivity of BIOS boot section. Jack E/NJ

OK. Google "insyde bios recovery" with the quotes and follow those instructions on the mod site. Repeat the procedure except try using the WinKey+B combo instead of Fn+ESC. Jack E/NJ

Hold on! Did you try to completely shut the machine off, then restart it normally to see if the ACER logo screen reappears? Jack E/NJ

Nothing. It lock like the bios missing and after 10-15 sec trying to find bootable device, but here is not bios to find it. I think I will buy a new laptop, because this is dead. Thanks for your help. You spend to much time for my problem and I am grateful for that.

But this suggests that, when you pressed those other keys, you actually saw the BIOS BOOT tab on the screen. It's still partially alive. You might want to try to flash it again the same way if you see the same message again "to insert any bootable device". Then insert the crisis stick again, not the Windows installation. And if it still doesn't take, you could then try a GPT-partition FAT32 crisis stick instead of am MBR-partition FAT32 stick. I have seen these low-level BIOS bootstrappers sometimes unexpectedly spring to life. Jack E/NJ

    Hi,
I would like to contribute to this theme with my experience with Acer BIOS flashing. I have old Acer Aspire 2920.

I follow up on the ended topic:

I needed to flash notebook with BIOS that have SLIC 2.1. In notebook is currently installed Windows 7.

I downloaded from official Acer support website BIOS 1.13 and modified it.
(One zip file with content of files mentioned in ended topic link above.)
Original and modified BIOS are in the same format: .exe file.

And now to BIOS flashing experiments:

    1) After boot from USB flash disk I tried to run .exe file from DOS. I received warning message that the program cannot be run in DOS.

    2) I followed the instructions in the .txt manual attached in downloaded zip file.
I tried to run exe file in running system Windows 7. I have got warning: WFlash Error: Open flash.sys Fail.
I tried Run as administrator, run in compatibility mode (Vista, XP ...). The same warning.

I spent some days of searching Internet for guides how to simply extract Acer BIOS .exe file.
I was not able to find solution which would clarify me enough how to do it. Maybe because I am not familiar with this type of programming enough.

Out of despair I decided that I will install on notebook Windows XP SP3, because I bought notebook with this system as a new device. I installed only clear system, no drivers. I have run .exe file ... and yes! The program has started and BIOS was flashed even from a running Windows system! I tried flashing BIOS even several times (unmodified ver. 1.13, modified 1.13 , unofficial 1.14). All flashings were OK.
Finally I flashed modified BIOS version 1.13 and installed back Windows 7.

Maybe this information can someone help.
