Did you buy it from a brick and mortar store or from Microsoft? If not you may have a fake version, if it's a real version they should give you a serial number or have it linked directly to your Microsoft account.

As ultrasuperman said if you have purchased a valid one from Microsoft then you can activate directly from Microsoft site https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/326851/activation-and-registration-information-of-a-microsoft-product. Else you need to purchase a valid key from Microsoft.
