After a recent reboot, I found my wifi broken and missing from my devices.  Even powershell is saying "There is no wireless interface on the system".  I found a couple of posts and exchanges that suggested it might be due to a Windows update (gone bad), and leaving it connected via ethernet might lead to it resolving itself.  After a few days, it hasn't; same problem.  I prefer not to do anything radical like a reset or restore, so I'm very close to simply getting an external wifi adapter to see what happens.  Before doing so, I wanted to check with other Acers.  My last option is to dive into the Microsoft support abyss.

Does your device manager show your Wireless card? If so, it is indeed Microsoft's update. If not, then the issue might with the wireless card itself.

Not that I can see.  I'm expecting something other than Bluetooth and WAN.

Still looking around to see if anyone else knows how to determine whether the wifi is truly broken.

I've got an Aspire ZS600 with exactly the same problem.  After the most recent Windows update, it's almost like the wireless hardware was removed from the system.

Wow, that actually worked.  Thanks for that link!

Now how the heck...  I'll have to read through those links further... I'd like to know what happened, why, etc.
Did leaving my ethernet cable plugged-in all this time help any?

    You're welcome.

I'm not sure what the deal is.   There's been about a dozen or so people on the forum that reported the problem....mostly with AR5BWB222.....but a couple other Qualcomm/Atheros wifi modules had the problem with Windows 10 Fall Creators too.

If it keeps happening, it's a pretty inexpensive part to replace.  I posted compatible Intel wifi modules in one of those other links.

Microsoft is going to release a new Windows 10 update sometime in April.    Maybe they'll have it sorted out by then.

Acer Support recommended that I buy support for this problem.  Glad you stepped in, JordanB.  You kept my frustration level low with a simple process.  Hope this helps others.

    Hi everyone,

I have an Aspire VN7-572G with wireless adapter Qualcomm/Atheros AR5BWB222. I tried the above suggested process (shutting down, unplugging from the power then after 15 minutes plugging in again then starting the laptop), but the wireless adapter is still missing from the device manager. Yesterday I updated the Windows to the new April Update in hoping it will solve the problem, it didn't. I installed the wireless driver from the Acer site but it still won't show up in device manager not even under hidden devices ( I tried to scan for hardware changes ). Has anyone any other idea how to solve this?

A laptop is a little different than a desktop since a laptop has a battery.  So I think you should try the internal battery reset procedure in link below.

    https://us.answers.acer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/34843/~/acer-internal-battery-reset

If that doesn't fix it.  There's some videos on youtube that show how to disassemble a VN7-572g.  You could try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes.  Or replacing the wifi module with one of those intel modules.  It can be a little dangerous disassembling a VN7-572g if you don't have experience as you might rip the keyboard connectors if you're not careful.  Hopefully the internal battery reset will fix it.

The main goal is to remove all power from the mainboard for a couple seconds/minutes so the hardware (wifi module) can get reset/initialized/unstuck.
