Failure to load windows-Gateway FX

Hello. i have an old Gateway FX model FX541S. When I turn machine on it starts to boot up then eventually reads the following:
Intel UNDI, PXE-2.1(build 082)
Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation
For Realtech RTL8111B/8111C Gigabit Ethernet Controller v2.08 (070827)
PXE-E61: Media Test Failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM.
Reboot and Select proper Boot device
or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key

I have no idea what this means-does it media i need a new hard drive perhaps? Any help would greatly be appreciated as I am disabled and my computer is my only real contact with the outside world. thank you very much in advance.

Can you access the BIOS menu? If yes, check the Information tab to see if the HDD is detected OK. If it is, save settings and exit. Does it boot up OK immediately after doing this? Jack E/NJ
