Limited connection even though it said connected could never get online. Showed Broadcom as main network adapter a 802.11n and NetLink Gigabit Ethernet, a 3rd was Microsoft Virtual WiFi miniport adapter which wasn't working, said unknown maybe corrupted. Anyway she had Win. 7 home premium, and I did a new install  Windows 7 Ultimate I had now it doesn't show any net work adapters just unknowns printer etc. What exactly network adapter is installed and how can I get a copy of it or them? Microsoft it seems no longer supports windows 7. It refuses to go online so can't update at all. Please help and Thank you in advance.

Congrats on your success. Just go the tools tab and then internet options. Set security to medium low. If that doesn't do the trick try playing around with some the the advanced settings. You also don't need any virus scanners running as Defender is adequate. Jack E/NJ

The virtual miniport adaptor is related to Bluetooth networking not the internet issue. I suggest that you try to re-set the machine to a factory-fresh Win7 home premium state from a hidden recovery partition on the hard disk. First, shut power completely off. Then turn the machine back on and immediately start tapping the F2 key to access the BIOS menu. Make sure D2D recovery option is enabled in the Main BIOS tab. Then F10 to save settings and exit. Then shut the machine down again after it gets done booting into Windows. Turn the power back on and immediately press and hold the ALT key while tapping the F10 key. You should be presented with an ACER recovery screen if the hidden ACER recovery partition on the hard disk is still intact. Follow directions to re-set the machine. The main drawback is that Windows 7 updates will have to be re-loaded. But Win7Updates can be done while the machine isn't being used. Jack E/NJ

Like a charm worked out great Thank you. Now if I can get the browser to stop blocking because of certificate issues all will be great, never seen Int. Exp. flag so many common sites.

Oh man! You gotta update those to IE11 at least. But I think Mozilla FireFox is a much better choice. That's all I use now. Jack E/NJ
