I haven't been able to get on my Acer in a couple of years. It has a white screen, the form of a person, I guess you would call it. Next to it says Password with a ble and black arrow. Won't let me type anything in. Hit arrow & it says to Please enter your sign in info & try again. Blue & black OK. Still can't type anything in. Hit OK & everything stars over. Only other thing on screen is bottom right hand says window update needed. Help. This is all I've seen on the laptop I forever. Old laptop has about given up the ghost & really need to get this one going.

    Hi,

You may try the below mentioned steps to see if the issue is resolved.

Please perform power drain by following the below steps.

1.Unplug the AC adapter from your notebook.
2.Turn the notebook over to remove the battery.
3.Hold down the power button for 30 seconds, then release the power button.
    4.re-connect the battery
5.Turn over the notebook one last time and plug in your AC adapter.
    6.Turn on your notebook.

Then, please perform BIOS defaults. During power up keep pressing F2 to access BIOS. Now press F9 and hit enter to set the bios to defaults and then hit f10 and hit enter to save the settings and restart the device.

If you are still experiencing a problem, please contact Acer support for further assistance.

is this an old acer v5-122p (11inch with a quad AMD processor)?  And does it have anything of relevance that you want to keep on it?  (it doesn't have a removable battery).  And did you take advantage of the free upgrade to win10 a while back or is it on 8 still?
