ACER ASPIRE One windows XP has wireless limited/no connectivity, keeps going to windows 169..

connects with ethernet cable but not wireless. keeps not finding ip address and conects to windows default 169... i have ipconfig release will not renew..times out. i have set power saver on device manager to off, reinstalled driver. to no avail.  using Atheros AR5007EG wireless network adapter in the tab it says device type Network adapters         Manufacturer Atheros    Location PCI bus 3, device 0, function 0

the box below says this device is working properly If you are having problems with this device click troubleshoot...went to the windows location..not helpfull, no list. 

rolled back driver..did not help.(i had previously uninstalled and reinstalled from ACER download site.  

it seems to time out before it finds ip address or something is blocking it. ???
