Why is my Acer Aspire 3 A315-21-95KF shutting down and restarting randomly but multiple times a day?

When I am using my Acer, hooked up to the charger or not, it will shut down randomly and then restart again. It has done it when I've barely started on the Acer or when I've been on it after just a little bit.

Some of these models have a safety switch on the mainboard which can accidentally shutdown the laptop due to misalignment of the case with the switch when being moved around or pressure on the keyboard or touchpad.

This lengthy thread describes two types of switches that are commonly used, a normally-off or a normally-on switch. In the former, the case doesn't push hard enough against the switch to keep power on. In the latter, the case pushes too hard and cuts the power. The fixes were simple involving tape spacers. Sorry, I can't determine which type of switch you have in your model and will require opening the machine to find the switch. If it's still under warranty, you should arrange ACER service to take care of this issue.

    Hi tamidillar7,

May be caused by windows system files damage. The corrupted system files entries can be a real threat to the well being of your computer. One solution is to use the Reimage professional Windows system repair software which runs a deep scan of your Windows system, finds and automatically fixes system software problems that are causing those Blue Screens. Reimage is the only program that has over 25,000,000 files in a repository and actually fixes your corrupted, malfunctioning and missing Windows software files. Run a scan with a program like Reimage to get a free PC report to see what PC problems you have and also get a free spyware and virus scan. In case you have an hardware problem the scan will detect it and inform you. Reimage also increases performance, stops computer freezing and system crashes as well as improves overall PC stability. With regular use, Reimage will constantly refresh your Operating System which will keep your computer running at its best. Reimage is a fast, easy and safe solution to fixing Blue Screens and all other Windows errors.

    Thanks And regards,

    DarkRaNgEr

    Thanks and Regards,

This sounds like a hardware issue involving a motherboard safety switch that is being activated by putting pressure on the keyboard. Refer to the fixes in this thread.

I was having similar problems and searched these forums to no avail. I ended up playing around and fixed the problem. This is what I did, hopefully it works for others:

TL;DR - I uninstalled all of the Acer bloatware and the problem immediately went away.

Long version - I had had the laptop for just under a year. Started randomly rebooting with no errors or no signs anything was wrong. Tested both HD and RAM and got no errors. Ran multiple virus and spyware scans and didn't find anything dramatic.

Eventually, the laptop got stuck in a windows repair loop and wouldn't boot at all. Called Acer and the recommended a factory reset. I didn't have anything crucial that wasn't saved somewhere else, so I did just that. The restore completed successfully and the computer worked as normal for about a month.

Started noticing the reboot was happening again. Did all of the same diagnostics and came up with no answers as to what was happening. The odd thing for me, was that the reboot only happened if I left the computer alone. I'd be working on it (sometimes for hours) with no issues. Then I'd walk away for 20 minutes and come back to find that the computer had rebooted itself. I even tried a different outlet to see if maybe it was some kind of power bump. I was *this* close to buying a new power adapter to see if that was the issue when I came to the realization that if it was a power/hardware issue, the factory reset shouldn't have temporarily fixed it.

Started to think "software" issue. Now I hadn't loaded really any foreign software onto the computer so I started browsing in programs. One thing I did notice was that when I'd reboot the computer, it would "drag" quite a bit and then I'd get a warning message from one of the Acer programs about the expiry of something or another. That's when the lightbulb clicked. I unistalled all of the Acer factory progrmams and rebooted the computer.

Has worked fined ever since. Hope this helps anyone else having this issue.

One of my friends faced the same issue and it will be helpful. Thank you
