ATC 280 exceptionally slow to POST (several minutes)

Anyone else have this problem? My Aspire 280 is extremely slow to boot up when powered off with the power button. When the OS (Linux) sends a "reboot" command, the box reboots immediately. But if it locks up or I have to open it up to tinker (yes, I'm one of those), it takes forever - as in several minutes - to get video output and the POST "beep".

Anyone else seen this or know what might be causing it? Are BIOS upgrades available for this model? I didn't see any option for it in the BIOS menu when I went looking for power-on settings.

Thanks.

    I don't have a TC-280

Are you in legacy mode?  Try UEFI mode (the BIOS default settings).  Try Windows.  Sorry I don't have any more suggestions.

If you had put your computer in legacy mode, you'll have to wipe your drive and put it in an uninitialized state or convert it to GPT before you re-install in EFI mode....e.g. wipe it with "diskpart clean".

Sorry for the late reply. I never got notified that you’d answered.

It’s not in legacy mode. Secure boot is off. Boot menu is on.

It hasn’t changed even as I’ve changed drive configurations. I haven’t added any memory or altered anything like that. It’s been this way since I took it out of the box.

Like i said - it’s only when power-cycled with the power button. A software-issued reboot command (even from BIOS) works fine.
