Helios 300...will it last?

Hey all!

After doing some extensive research...I've come down to the Helios 300. It seems perfect for the price range. The only problems that it seems to have are with the battery, heating, and screen.

My concern is how long the laptop will last. WIll it be able to handle being moved around from day to day, or is it better stationary? Will it be able to last for..say up to 3-4 years?
Also, if there's anything else I should know before buying the laptop..fire away!

For those of you that currently use this laptop, is there anything that you like/dislike about it? How big are the problems with the heating and screen? I would like to know as much as possible prior to buying this laptop.

I have had it for about 6 months, and it is in a laptop case inside my duty bag (so it gets tossed around a bit, but not onto the laptop itself.)

I use it for gaming and for school work. So far the laptop hasn't had any issues from moving around, but I also ensure that it is shut down every time I put it away, I don't leave it on standby.

For most people "move it around day to day" does not involve tossing your bag into the back of a patrol rig at least 3 times a day. If it does I would suggest a sturdy case that offers protection, i use an LG base fan that is a metal holder as well.

The screen brightness is fairly weak. You cannot use it outside with the sun behind you at all. If you are indoors it works just fine and I haven't had any performance issues. I have read that there are a few screen replacements you can do for $50-$75 fairly easily that work better outside without a loss of performance. Also the screen color is a bit dull, I wouldn't suggest using it for video/picture editing that needs highlt accurate colors. But for general gaming it's fine.

The cooling in mine works fine if it is on a flat surface or on a laptop fan pad. Using it directly on your lap is ill advised (really this holds true with any laptop.) If it has a clean/open air flow then it stays under 65C even during some of my heavier games.
