Was working when I closed the lid last night but now screen doesn't come on and tried the reboot (holding power down for awhile) to see if that would help. Left the power connected for an hour too and then tried turning on with no luck.

All I have is the light bulb at the front is blinking and when I connect power the battery icon lights up (both orange).

What else can I try?

btw I've had this Chromebook for about a year.

    Try the ESC+Refresh+Power key combination.
Aso, try the ctrl+alt+power key combination
Try opening and closing it for a few times .

Shut down your Chromebook by holding down the power button for 10 seconds. Plug in the charger. Let it charge for 3.5 hours. Reboot the Chromebook. Note that the screen will go into sleep mode after 6 minutes and the entire Chromebook will go into sleep mode if not being used for 12 minutes. All you have to do is type any key or touch the trackpad to reawaken it. If you continue to have problems please contact a local technician.

Chrome OS is damaged or missing came up when I used the ESC-Refresh-Power Key suggestion... off in search of how to fix that now. Hopefully without losing the android data (some documents there that I really should have backed up)
