Chromebook R11 - Help with stylus calibration/sketching

I'm pretty new to sketching on tablets other than using a surface for a few months at an old job. I have an R11 Chromebook and I am really liking it. The only thing is I would really like to be able to sketch/write notes on the fly. I use OneNote and Autodesk's Sketch app, which recognize my stylus for sketches and notes but I typically have to press really hard on the screen for it to recognize it. It also seems to stop recognizing it on and off or there is some kind of latency since there will be breaks in a stroke.

Does anybody have any suggestions for this? I googled it and couldn't find anything about calibration settings or a utility that would help with it. I have tried a mesh tip and rubber tip stylus and both do the same thing.

Thanks.
