How do I 'find' a missing HDD on Acer Predator GX-792 laptop? How do I recover the missing drive?

I have Predator GX-792 which until recently displayed a C: drive (240GB SSD) and D: drive (2TB SATA drive). I was downloading a game from Steam to the D; drive, when part way through Steam indicated a disk drive error, and upon checking I found that the D: drive had disappeared completely. and can not be seen on Finder nor on Device Manager (only shows C: drive and DVD drive). How do I recover the missing drive?

Can you go to Disk Management and find if the HDD appears there?

You can try resetting the battery. Disconnect from AC adapter, turn off the laptop and follow the instructions.
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

Yes, first of all try make sure that 2nd HDD is displayed in Disk Management (Win + S -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Storage -> Disk Management).
If not, try boot gparted and there make sure that is visible.
    If not, check HDD cables.
If not, connect HDD to external SATA connector via USB.
If not, use your HDD warranty.

    Thanks for the advice guys.

The 2nd HDD is not shown in Disk Management or anywhere else. Tried resetting the battery but no difference.

Administrative Events logs show disk problems since 14 Jan, with HDD disappearance on 30 Jan during Steam game program download...not sure what they mean though. Have included what I think are key elements of warnings. Does that provide any further insight to the problem?

Thanks all, but I no longer need assistance....got the problem fixed.

I ran good old AVG PC Tuneup, and after it fixed a large number of Registry errors, all is well again. I was using their trial version, but I'll now make that a full version.

    Thanks again for your help.
