I want to change out the Core I7 2670qm cpu for a 3610qm cpu in my Acer aspire 5750-9422
Soooo, I got this Acer aspire 5750-9422 Core I7 system with a 2670QM processor. I only did a "hair" of research before I bought my upgrade cpu of 3610QM cpu. Ripped my system open, stuffed the 3610 in there and . . wala - no boot. For you tech savy types, you probably already know why. After further research, the 2670 chip is a sandy bridge, the 3610 is an ivy bridge. based on my research the 3610 wont work unless theres a BIOS firmware update that will support it. Guess what - theres not. My BIOS is the newest as published on the Acer website, v 1.21 dated late 2012. So for 6 yrs, no updates. Anyone know of an upcoming BIOS update or any kind of "work around"?? I checked the Gateway site as well and - yeah, you know - same results, after all, Acer / Gateway = same thing. Thought maybe there might be someone who decided to go with a BIOS update from "somewhere else" that might support the newer chip. Any ideas. Im guessing im just stuck. haha. Tks
