Fans not making a difference

I just got my Predator Helios 300, and I was playing around with the temperature and fan settings while under small loads. At about 30% load while downloading from Steam, my CPU was getting about 60 Celsius. That's not too bad I guess? I cranked up the fans to max and it didn't do a single thing. The temperature remained bouncing between 55 and 65, and the fans going from auto to max didn't change the temperatures at all. I was wondering if that was normal or if the thermal transfer was that bad between the paste or pipes that the fans aren't cooling.

You wont see much help from the fans under small loads. I have found turning the fans from regular settings (CoolBoost off) to max with heavy loads only changes the temperatures by maybe 2-3C. 60C wont hurt the laptop. You will need to do testing under heavy loads to know if you are in the danger zone or not.

I don't use CoolBoost or max my fans because it is annoying and doesn't make that much of a difference.

Helios 300 is a relatively thin & light gaming notebook, nor is it noted for the best cooling solution.  Acer's CoolBoost only really comes into play at 85C and greater and can help to take the edge off by a few degrees when it's most needed at the cost of increased fan noise.

Elevating & undervolting will help to reduce temperature although as stated 60C is very much to be expected.  I have a Predator 17 & a 15" MSI Raider GE63VR and similar to the Helios 300 the Raider runs hotter and louder under the same loads, much also depends on the ambient temperature.
