Acer V3 722G- WEIRDEST KEYBOARD MALFUNCTION

Goodmorning fellas,
I m using an Acer aspire V3, 3 years now the machine is great but I m having an extremely bizarre keyboard issue past 6 months.

This problem sets on and off COMPLETELY RANDOMLY mid-typing, mid-gaming, mid-anything.

At times, keys W, E (always) and sometimes TAB and WINDOWS KEY stop working, whilst all other keys function normally. At first I thought a good clean might fix it, but it didn't. I haven't spilled anything on the laptop.

I don't know if this is a hardware or software problem.

Now for the weird part. The keys do not die 100%. They seem to register some info but all mixed up. For example during the problem:
Pressing W or E registers nothing on screen
Pressing W+E registers nothing
Pressing Q+W+E registers "q3"
Pressing W+E+TAB registers "q3"
Pressing W+E+2 registers "24"
Pressing W+E+4 registers "24"

At device manager I see 3 keyboards (have never installed a keyboard myself)
2 generic keyboards
1 Hex V2 keyboard (got a Naga hex mouse with 7 programmable buttons)

1 generic and the hex keyboard install normally
The other generic keyboard requires a restart to uninstall.

I CANT FIND ANYTHING SIMILAR ON ANY FORUM ON THE NETS. HAS ANYONE, ANY CLUE HOW TO PROCEED IN FIXING THIS?
IS IT A HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE PROBLEM ?
I AM DESPERATE PLS ANY HELP WILL DO.

    One important thing I forgot!
During the "normal" period, W and E strokes register 2 or more w and e characters more often than not. (An eexamplee wwould look like this)

Seems like you have a European model. On mine, this intermittent behavior was due to high humidity & sticky food debris that got caught under the key covers. I tried uninstalling all the KB drivers to no avail. So I bought a replacement KB but then wound up never bothering tyo install it since the only weird-acting (or should I say non-working) key was the down arrow/speaker key after thoroughly air blasting and soft-bristle brushing under the keys. Thank you for your response. As stated above I have removed and cleaned all keyboard keys. There was nothing underneath other than dust. I use a dehumidifier in my place set at 55%>

    @Neiss

If you have V3-772G, take a look at what I wrote below.  If you don't have V3-772G, then please disregard my post.  There seems to be some confusion about your model number.  I'm assuming you have V3-772G, but shouldn't have assumed that.

You can get vanilla Windows 8.1 from link below.

    And drivers from link below.

Acer Factory Windows 8.1 Recovery Media from link below.

There's several reports of V3-771G and V3-772G having a little keyboard problem and people replacing the keyboard.  The keyboard itself is only about $15. It appears the V3-771G and the V3-772G use the same keyboard.  You can get the keyboard from Amazon UK or Amazon USA.

You can also check to see if you have the latest BIOS.

    1. Right click on the Windows Start button
    2. Left click on Run
    3. Type msinfo32
    4. Click ok

Thanks a lot for your responses guys!

Model is actually 772-it was a typo.

Yesterday I formatted to windows 10 again (I didn't have any other os ready) and upgraded bios to 1.3 but since that didn't fix anything and after your feedback I m gonna try going back to 8.1.

If that doesn't work as well Il replace the keyboard.

    Will keep you updated!

    Thanks a lot again😁

Many Windows cognoscenti would call this an upgrade. 8^) Jack E/NJ
