Is it normal that the display changes it`s brightness intensity on it`s own?

Hello,
I recently purchased an Acer Nitro 5 notebook with 8th gen i5 Core, 8GB of ram, 1TB of HDD and Nvidia MX150 graphics. I installed Windows 10 pro and then, I installed all the required drivers. I`ve found something that seem not to be regular in my opinion or maybe is but I don`t know yet. Everything on the computer is working fine, but while I`m on battery, if I`m attentive at the display I can see that the brightness is like it is adjusting automatically by dimming or increasing the intensity and sometimes it gives me the the impression that I`m seeing a soft flickering. I need to mention that the adaptive brightness option is turned off. I wander if this is normal or this is implemented by manufacturer or by other power saving settings.

Can you check if your Intel's Display Power Plan Settings is fiddling with this? Glad that you've mentioned that you've turned off the adaptive brightness but I think it's Intel's power plan settings.

Let me know if this worked :)

Yes. I`ve checked that option and disabled it. Now, I see that the screen brightness seems to be fine. Thank you for suggesting me to take a look there. It really helped.

Unfortunately, the solution was only a temporary one. I can see that even with that option turned off, the screen continues to dim/softly flash while the notebook runs on battery and low brightness. It is more clearly noticeable while on desktop screen.  I don`t know what is causing this. My video drivers are up to date and everything else is updated.

    try this:
    windows logo + x keys
    click on Power options
click on Additional power settings (right side of the screen)
click on Change plan settings on the selected plan
    click on change advanced settings
scroll down to display and set adaptive brigthness to off
    I'm not an Acer employee.

Sorry, but I`ve checked this before as I mentioned in my starting comment of this topic. That option was already switched off when I first checked it.

This is a bug presented in Windows 10 when using Intel HD integrated GPU. You need to plug out the AC cable and plug it in once again.
