Hi there,

I have owned my Acer Predator for roughly 2 years now. Apart from the occasional graphics problem it has been running fine.

Recently I have noticed that laptop has been getting very hot. After checking Predator sense I realised that my System fan is not running. Only the CPU fan

Can anyone help in terms of getting it back up and running or what is causing this?

Thanks

T

By system fan do you mean the GPU fan or the frost core? Try resetting the battery to see if that helps. Turn off the laptop, disconnect from AC and follow the instructions.
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

    Hey Ven,

    Thanks for replying.

Sorry yes I am meaning the GPU fan. I have installed several different programs to try and adjust the setting but they are just not picking it up at all.

Just tried the battery reset and unfortunately did not work. Any other suggestions? Have tried various different searches on the internet but cannot find a similar problem for the predator

    Thanks

I think the fan is stuck, not broken. You can open the laptop, remove the dust from the fan, and grease the bearing up with a little oil. Ask if you need any guide for disassembly.

    Hi ven,

Thanks for  the support so far. I dissembled the laptop using a guide and cleaned the fans. There was quite a bit of dust build up on them so was good to get that done.

unfortunately the GPU fan is still not working and is not being picked up by any programs including Predator Sense, MSI and Argus monitor.

    any advice?

    Thanks

Did you try greasing it with oil? A user posted that after doing this, the fan began to spin again. If you did and it had no result, then most likely the fan has died and needs to be replaced. You can contact Acer if you have warranty left.

Just to confirm the fan that isn't working is this one?:

This is the part number: 23.Q04N5.003
