I own a gateway desktop and it will not allow me to install a graphics card. The system boots but will either do single beeps and then finally boot into a menu that does nothing. Anyways i know the issue is the motherboard. The motherboard is locked and it requires me to disable secure boot in the bios; however, my current bios does not have a secure boot. And the only bios upgrade is for windows 8, and I am already on windows 10. Is there anyway to update my bios?

    Hi,

There should be no reason you can't upgrade that PC with a discrete card.
Did you remember to connect the 6 pin cable to the card?
Move the video cable from the on-board to the card?
Does the card's fan spin? Is the card firmly into the PCIeX16 slot?
What is the model no of the new Graphic card?

Please check in BIOS once again. Power down, remove the graphics card, power up, go into your bios, disable secure boot, enable legacy devices, save/exit, power down, add Graphics card and you should be good to go.
