Hello, so I have Acer Predator G3-710 with I5-7400 etc. I was wondering is there any chance I can upgrade my cpu and maybe buy a second stick of ram to it? Will it support any of the Kaby Lakes or only this one?

can you please post your BIOS version?
    windows logo + r keys
    type
    msinfo32

    check BIOS date version

about ram...are you sure that your system has not already 2 ram sticks?

Mm, it says American Megatrends Inc. R02-A2, 17.3.2017

And I don't know if it has 2 sticks already, but if it does, I'll just remove them and upgrade. It has only 8GB atm and I need 16GB badly.

    And I was thinking of I7-7700 / I7-7700K

You can add up to 32GB(2x16GB) DDR4-2400 in your PC. You should be able to upgrade to i7 7700, but I don't think you should risk going for 7700k, because the motherboard is likely to not support overclocking and the TDP is with 26W higher than i7 7700 and i5 7400

You should update your BIOS to latest version, which is RO2-A4. Available download here: https://www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/support-product/6373?b=1
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

Okey, I got no idea how to update the bios, there is no option for it in the actual bios, no way to flash it.

yeah, not worth to put a K cpu since the BIOS doesn't have any OC option.

about updating the BIOS, you can do it only from windows; unzip the file and browse to its WIN folder and run FLASH.bat

Tried unzipping, and using the flash, actually done the progress 2 times now, but it doesn't update it. Still the same version in msinfo32

10 - Error: Unable to load driver.

After that it starts to update it, but even when its completed, nothing.

Do you happen to know that would I7-6700 fit in the socket aswell?

only kabylake,  if the i7-6700 is skylake...no, you can't put it on your PC.

Why are those done so stupidly, it's even the same socket. You've always been able to use every single processor on every single platform as long as the socket is correct... Seriously

The BIOS doesn't or may not allow it. The BIOS on your device supports kabylake, the previous gen g3 710(with skylake) supports skylake CPUs only.

Do you guys happen to know how can I get my turbo speed to be constant @ 4.2Ghz? It's giving me problems in the games now since the speed is constantly dropping and rising. Is there any software or something like that? Cannot do it in the bios.

And how on earth can I remove the stock cooler from this pc? 4 screws to take off the fan, but there is no way the backplate is coming out, I have no clue how on earth can I get it off

if you removed the 4 screws around the fan, the heatsink must be pulled; be aware that the thermal paste can became like glue and you need to be carefull on pulling, try to twist/turn it a little too.

Yeah, I knew that. But the backplate of the heatsink caused my some trouble. It was literally glued on... Had to use really thin knife to get it off
