MicroSD real support

Recently I bought Acer Switch One S1003-14ZH 32 GB. Great device. Good tradeoff between cost/functionality/performance. But one thing is unclear for me. According specs device supports microSD and microSDHC formats. This causes limitations in terms of maximum extension card size (not file size). SDHC is not enough for Windows 10 OS in practice because 32gb limit. Of course you can use external HDD as expansion, but it is my plan B. Question is microSDXC support is locked because hardware card reader shipped in device or sortware driver only side? Can I expect SDXC support in the future?

The only portions missing from XC support is the higher transfer speeds. There will be no issues with capacities, albeit at HC speed.

Just checked on another device. Have a Samsung EVO 128GB SD (U3) card rated at 100MB/s and the Crystal Mark read value on the Spin 1 is 23 MB/s or USB 2.0 speed while in my R11 (same form factor as Spin 1) it is 73 MB/s.
