Acer VN7 571G doesn't boot if touchpad is connected

I opened the laptop to clean it inside and disconnected the three ribbon cables of the keyboard/touchpad to remove it.
After reconnecting all three cables, the laptop doesn't boot anymore. The scree keeps black without even the initial Acer logo shown and not possible to enter the BIOS. After pressing the power button the keyboard lights go on and the fan starts, but after a few seconds the fans stops and nothing happens anymore. I can only turn it off by pressing the power button longer.
I then found that if I disconnect the touchpad ribbon, the laptop boots properly and I can also get into the BIOS (latest version 1.14). I can re-connect the touchpad after boot or after entering the BIOS, but it's not usable/shown in the BIOS or OS options.
I also tried a BIOS "load defaults" (with touchpad re-connected), but no success.
Next I tried to close the laptop case with touchpad connected (but without inserting the screws), still not working.

Has anyone an idea what else to try or what could be wrong? I don't see a reason why the touchpad itself should be broken (just by disconnecting/re-connecting it) and also wondery why a faulty touchpad ma prevent the laptop from booting.

It is possible that you may have damaged the cable during the process.
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

@ven98 thanks for your response and sorry for the late reply.
I checked the cable and it looks fine, no broken wires. So unfortunately it's not a cable issue but something else.

Finally I ordered a new touchpad and this solved the issue.
    What I've learnt from this:
    • A faulty touchpad can prevent the Laptop from booting, not even showing the BIOS
    • Always use an antistatic wrist strap :3
